- I remember seeing an old thread where it was showing up as free for some people due to a glitch.
I've just checked and it doesn't show up as free for me. - Yeah this was a 'thing' years ago and some players are still surprised to see it showing as an available free download for them. The way this went was BB was supposed to be part of the offer for players who pre-ordered and registered one of the EPs, I think it was either Seasons or Uni. No one got the free world offer at all. Something like two years later, EA corrected the mistake but went a bit overboard and many players (myself included) who never pre-ordered anything suddenly found that it was showing up as ready for download, usually by stumbling across it by accident. If you are just seeing this now, it may have been available to you that way for a very long time.
NRaas has moved!
Our new site is at http://nraas.net - Many of us purchased the original Barnacle Bay and when the new version was released it was not available for free. I probably did pre order whatever it was that the offer of free Barnacle Bay was made for but never had it made free for me. I assumed the free copy of the new version was only for people from USA.
With store content you have purchased you can usually download it from your purchase history or from the store. In my case I can't download the original BB from the store as it isn't available from the store. I think I can get it from my purchase history still. Haven't checked for a long time though. But the new version, the Complete Barnacle Bay suddenly had the download button on it. So now I can download the new version from the store. I don't know when this happened but it was before Sims 4 was released.
https://youtube.com/channel/UCuW44b3uCMtCSaq4gwC8EZg/playlists - I discovered the free download of the complete Barnacle Bay a year (or something) ago. I started playing in late 2014, so never preordered anything. After searching the net for a bit (to see if there was a catch or something), I found the old thread and just downloaded it quickly, before the opportunity could go away . Pretty neat.
It still shows up as a download at the store for me, so nothing seems to have changed. And I´m not from the USA.
My sim´s antics: http://waterdragonsblog.com/
My studio: http://www.thesims3.com/mypage/WatrDragon/mystudio - It suddenly became a free download for me after I bought Monte Vista last year, although I can't know for sure that these two things are connected. I downloaded and installed it immediately. After a while it started showing up as something I have to pay for again, and then it recently became a free download once again.
I noticed that when I look at the Worlds page of the store, if it's just called Barnacle Bay it's not a free download, but if it's called The complete Barnacle Bay Adventure, then it is free.2 - Mine still says that it's $19.99, get the bundle or redeem code . I wouldn't personally pay that much for it anyway.2
- The issue I have is that I already bought HALF of the Barnacle Bay set (Buccaneer's Bounty) before they merged the sets! I've heard about this several times and have checked into it. No DL for free option for me. Now I have to decide -
Is it WORTH spending $20 at Walmart for the other half (knowing that the half I already got is also included)?0 - It shows up for free for me right now, but maybe because I already have it (through the glitch)
They should have more glitches like that.My wishlist! Give items if you want!!! (RANDOM ORDER)
Ultimate cc-list
My top 5 - I never saw it for free on the Origin store. I eventually bought it on an Origin sale.0
- edited May 2017I've installed but never even loaded up the world. The way I expressed this at the time was something like my sims are very busy in their personal lives and don't have time to go around dressing up and playing pirate. I was quickly (but gently) chastised and told that I should try the world anyway because it's made well and a lot of fun. It's still hanging out on my to do list of things to try, but not very high up on it. And I could do without the related outfits showing up on random inactive sims, but that doesn't seem to happen as often to me as it does others.

Well there Mister .. I know someone who isn't getting an invitation to my 'Talk Like A Pirate Day' party this September ..
.8 - edited May 2017Thanks guys!
I was worried I did bought it at some point and became senile, good to know that is not the case.
@igazor I did stumble across it by accident (but I am pretty obsessed with the store and it never showed up like that). not only this - when I logged off it didn't show up as free (unlike Riverview).
@Karritz I'm not from the USA so I guess it's not related. also I recently (like few days ago) went over my purchase history (obsessed as I mentioned ) and it wasn't there for sure.
@PalmArrow I did purchase Monte Vista a few months ago, perhaps that's the reason?
I wouldn't either, that's why it's such a nice surprise! I love free stuffMine still says that it's $19.99, get the bundle or redeem code . I wouldn't personally pay that much for it anyway.
I must say that as a free world, it's actually pretty cute world! (they should give it as a gift for everyone)
I've been checking out this world in the last hours and I think it's going to be fun to play with even without any piracy theme.. There seem to be cute families and stories, the layout is nice..The way I expressed this at the time was something like my sims are very busy in their personal lives and don't have time to go around dressing up and playing pirate. I'm not from USA so was surprised when the complete Barnacle Bay became free for me. But I had already previously purchased the original Barnacle Bay and the set containing pirate clothes that comes with the new version. The only extras I got with the new version was the staircases.

I do have Island Paradise, I'll try that - I talked one of the EA reps into letting me have it for free lol. I had the Buccaneers Bounty set and the original Barnacle Bay, all I was missing was the stairs which came with the new version, so the rep let me have it. This was way back.
I haven't played in it much. I absolutely adore the wooden stairs and matching fence with the ropes though - I wish there was some way to download and install just those, like you can with most world items. - Hilda Bancroft
It was if you preordered Island Paradise they gave everyone the world free if you ordered it from origins before the game came outYeah this was a 'thing' years ago and some players are still surprised to see it showing as an available free download for them. The odd thing about that is that I purchased and installed IP much later than many others. I think it was mid-2015 by then. But the BB for free thing came my way long before that. So that means the possibly unintended free offer was not limited to those who even had the EP it was originally supposed to be bundled with at all (that's why I was thinking Seasons or Uni, just because of the timing back then). Or maybe they ran similar pre-order promos more than once.

Our new site is at http://nraas.net - I got Barnacle Bay as a free download at the store not too long ago. I had heard that it was a glitch and happened to come up every once in a while as a free download, so I checked every so often and one day there it was, with a big old green download button right next to it! I was pretty skeptical that it would actually download for me, but was very happily surprised that it did and loaded right up on the launcher and was a playable world when I started the game up! The only thing I find strange is that it doesn't show up as a game I own on the store site, it's still grayed out. I do like Barnacle Bay and play there quite a bit. Keep checking, one day it might show up free for you.
- @5782341b77vl 'Is it WORTH spending $20 at Walmart for the other half (knowing that the half I already got is also included)?' Meh. Not really. There are prettier worlds out there and nothing special about Barnacle Bay (imho). I could see $10 if it goes on sale. Daily Deal?

Barnacle Bay is awesome,it is great now with the ability to make homes on pylons and platforms plus lots of beach space to turn it into a resort town and lots of water for placing dive lots. Also building custom island homes is great there.Plus is somwhat flat on the outskirts and can lay custom lots that are easy to work with and are routable. In general a great world to easily empty out and make your own.25 - edited June 2017Just went in game.
Timed this, took 9 minutes 37 seconds to plop a 40x40 in the water shape it,paint the terrain and build a hut.Placed a few trees

The Sims 3: Barnacle Bay is the expansion to the third part of the popular game developed by the Electronic Arts (EA Redwood Shores) studio. The series lets you create your own character so-called Sim and then direct the actions taken by the hero. The Sims has a long tradition and when it comes to expansions – there are dozens of those which are available in regular shop as well as in digital distribution.
In Barnacle Bay you get the opportunity to go to a small island located in the Simuyan Sea. It is the perfect place to experience adventure holiday – the resort has sandy beaches, camps, parks and modern city centre. There used to live a lot of fishermen, artists and even pirates. One of the legends says that on the island there are also real ghosts and spirits.
The expansion has introduced 18 new items and exclusive pieces of equipment. During visiting the island you can find places like: The Wanderer’s Watering Hole, The Smugglers’ Beach, The Hogan’s Deep Fried Dinner and many other interesting locations. All those elements are presented in a distinctive style which is well-known from the basic version of The Sims 3. This expansion was released only in The Sims 3 network store.
